How to hide your home address on Google

You can ask Google to remove search results that show your home address, hide the address on your Google Business Profile, and opt out of people-search sites. Results vary by site, and removal is not always permanent. To stop the address from spreading again, replace it with a business address wherever your business appears.

Steps to take

  1. Google search results: use Google's "Results about you" tool to request removal of pages that show your home address.
  2. Google Business Profile: if you serve customers at their location, set a service area and hide your address.
  3. People-search and data broker sites: submit each site's opt-out form. Many re-list data, so check again every few months.
  4. Your website and domain: remove your home address from your site, and turn on domain privacy with your registrar.
  5. Your invoices, email signature and social profiles: switch to a business address.

New Jersey business filings

If your LLC's state filings list your home, that address is public. You can file an address change with the state through Business.NJ.gov. Older copies may remain online, but new filings will show your business address.

Questions

Can I remove my home address from Google completely?

You can request removal from Google's results, but Google doesn't control the sites themselves. Removing it at the source and replacing it with a business address gives better long-term results.

How do I block my home address online?

Opt out of people-search sites, hide your address on your Google Business Profile, use domain privacy, and stop using your home address on business materials.

Will a business address hide my address from the state?

No. You still give the state and your bank your personal details where required. A business address keeps your home off the public parts of your filings.
